3D Hogwarts pic!

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 | Author: Thio

When it was my very last day visiting the Wizarding World I had my mind set on one thing: I have to take as many pictures as I can. I guess it was my own personal way of bringing the park and the experience back home with me.
While taking pictures an idea came to mind: “Why not take pictures in a way that I can make them 3D once I’m home?”. And so it was that by the end of that day alone I had no less than 700 pictures of the Wizarding World. If you guys like the idea, I’ll take the best, turn them into 3D and, of course, share them with you on this awesome community that is the fandom and Potter Pensieve.

There isn’t much Park spoilers in this one. Just a picture of Hogwarts that we’ve seen from promotional stuff, but this time in 3D.

You can see the pictures in two different ways: using one of those red and cyan glasses or using the crosseye method with the side by side picture. There are plenty of tutorials online on how to see 3D pictures using the latter.

Wizarding World

Wednesday, July 06th, 2011 | Author: Thio

Hey guys!! July has finally come and I was finally able to go to Orlando for a nice long vacation. Although I won’t be joining the fandom for LeakyCon, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, located in the Universal Islands of Adventure parks.

The park really is amazing and the sensation of walking down Hogsmeade for the very first time is wonderfully weird. Here are some pictures I took today and that I wanted to share with all potterpensieve staff and listeners. Hope you enjoy!

WARNING: The following pictures might be considered spoilers by those who want to experience the park only and entirely by themselves. I tried to select pictures that show some cool stuff while not revealing too much. There are no pictures of any rides…

The Return of Potter Pensieve

Saturday, April 02nd, 2011 | Author: Thio

That’s right! We are finally getting control of the website once again. We made a deal with the Dark Lord involving some sunblock, two blue wigs and a chicken. Don’t ask. Important thing is that he is gone… for now at least.
Still, L-Vo used some spells to make sure we wouldn’t get rid of his posts anytime soon. So if you missed what that “I’m-so-powerful-but-can’t-seem-to-keep-my-nails-clean” wizard did to our website, just check the blog posts bellow. He said he put his soul into those and…. wait. WHAT?!

Harry Potter: Bathroom Edition

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 | Author: Thio

Oh yes!! We had to wait a while but it is finally here! Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: Bathroom Edition!! Or… almost that.
Someone took some time to write down the very first chapter of the Harry Potter series on the wall of a bathroom stall. Take a look.

A wonderful way of making people discover Harry Potter when they are most vulnerable.

One day left…

Thursday, November 18th, 2010 | Author: Thio

Just one more day. Not even that. Some hours from now we all will be able to go to the nearest movie theater and watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
How do you prepare yourself for the end of something that has been like a friend over the past decade? I mean, we all know It’s not really ending this friday. We all know that this is only part 1 and that we still have part 2 next year. This is a happy thought that keeps us protected like a Patronus from the feeling of loss. But even so, we know this is our first step towards the end and we can’t help but feeling nostalgic, depressed, happy and eager all at the same time. This is the second-to-last time we will get to feel like that. So go on and be nostalgic. Be both depressed and happy at once. Cry if you must and just take the time to enjoy this. Potter Pensieve wishes every reader and listener a great and grand movie opening tomorrow. Be sure to enjoy every second of it and come back here later and tell us what you thought of it. Have a happy Deathly Hallows!

Harry Potter Flashmob

Friday, November 05th, 2010 | Author: Thio

We are exactly 2 weeks away from the release of the first Deathly Hallows movie. In celebration of that, here is a very cool flashmob done at the Grand Central, in New York.

That was an impressive Voldemort.

The New (and best) Deathly Hallows Poster

Saturday, October 02nd, 2010 | Author: Thio
WB just released a new poster in addition to the three individual posters of the trio.

This new poster is the very first one that I actually like from the HP7 bunch. Don’t get me wrong, the art on the other three were just as good, but they lacked a certain “Potterish” look and they were weak on purpose. In one of the posters we actually had Ron against what looked like a nuclear power plant. What? Is Potter going nuke against Voldemort?

Ok. So they wanted to show that Hogwarts is not the only setting of the story anymore. That’s fine. But placing characters against so many random muggle locations can take something away from the identity that is “Harry Potter”. That’s what I felt when I first saw the first three posters.

But this new poster is different. It takes us to something that actually happens in the book and we can see our trio running down the forest. This is a poster that can make people wonder “what are they running from?”, “what is happening there?”. On top of that, it is subtle. The poster shows that they are not in Hogwarts and yet it still feels like a Harry Potter movie. Not to mention that the line “The end begins” is much more fitting than “Nowhere is safe”. Of course nuclear facilities are not safe.

Posters should raise the public interest and expectations. Not just show primary characters doing heroic poses against some random background. Of course I understand the necessity of exploiting the image of the heros, but the really good posters are the ones that actually make people wonder about the movie and I think the WB marketing department got it right with this one.
