New books?

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 | Author: Heather

Big news in the world of Harry Potter! Reuters is  reporting that Bloomsbury expects to publish “a new Rowling three-book box set tied into the Potter series”. This was just mentioned in passing as the article is mostly about profits and eBooks. The small amount of information lends itself to huge speculation. My galleons are on another set of books like “Quidditch Through the Ages” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. But we can always keep our fingers crossed for a three-volume encyclopedia!

So what do you think? Predictions for the books? Far-fetched hopes for stories featuring Sirius Black in leather? Leave a comment with your thoughts!

Spoilers from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

Saturday, April 09th, 2011 | Author: Sarah

Wow! It has been entirely too long since my last post but I feel the need to assure you that I have been actively gathering as much information as possible in regards to the changes that may be coming to the WWoHP. I use the term “changes” lightly as it may not be the most accurate term but it is the best to describe our current situation. I am sure many of you have heard the rumors surrounding the possible expansion of the Harry Potter portion of the park.

I am the type of person that loves to hear the gossip and rumors and then follow through to see how much of this information is true. While I can’t say 100% that an expansion is happening, I can confirm that there will be changes in the future that will directly effect the Wizarding World. According to a Universal Studios of Orlando engineer that wishes to remain anonymous, Universal is currently working on blueprints for the mandatory “update” that is required by Universal Studios. The source did confirm that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will definitely be getting some of the upgrades.  At this point the engineer cannot confirm nor deny the rumors of the expansion and whether it will take over the Lost Continent portion of the park.

I will be visiting the park again tomorrow and will hopefully harass enough employees to get some concrete evidence but until then I messily threw together some of the original pictures of the park with some added narration.

I truly hope this satisfies your hunger…. At least until I can get some serious facts together!!!

How Will They Work Out Movie 7??

Monday, November 15th, 2010 | Author: Adam

I have been steadily thinking about the movie 7, not the release and excitement, but of what they will actually compose the movie.

First of all, I have to be honest, I really had a problem with movie 6. I feel that they practically destroyed this movie. It was dull (yes, I know the book was more “talk” than action as well), but they could have easily worked around this if they hadn’t left some major plot points out. I also felt like Harry did not act like Harry. In movie 6, he seemed so devious and dark (especially while planning to pursue Slughorn), as if there was some gnarling creature inside of him wanting to burst out. To me, this is not how Harry should have been. He was very innocent and almost nervous in the books. Quite a contrast. Also, it was too quick, editing was choppy, scenes were left seemingly unfinished. But one problem that I refuse to let go, were all the knots that were left untied. The filmmakers, I feel, made an enormous mistake with the direction they led the movie in. HP6 focused more on the teenage romance than it did the actual plot. From watching this movie, we hardly know anything about Tom Riddle as he rose to power! We know nothing of the Gaunts! We know nothing of the horcruxes! (With the exception of a couple). Book 6′s main focus was on the life of Tom Riddle and all of his horcruxes. Movie-watchers have no idea what or where the others are…This leaves me to thinking, how will Harry possibly find them?

Obviously he will, seeing as the movie will be released in just a few days…but how will the producers make it logical? What strategy will they use to cover up the fact that they really made a mess of movie 6? I have thought of a couple options. One, is that Harry will learn of the Horcruxes through the will of Dumbledore. If this does end up to be the case, then I’ll be a little upset at the lack of creativity, and in other words, dullness of this approach to the story. Who wants Harry to read a bunch of things in order to advance the plot? Not me.

Another option, one that I find much more plausible and intriguing, is that Harry will learn through his mind connection with Voldemort. In the movie, I am imagining Harry wincing with pain, scar hurting, and then the distorted image of Voldemort, proclaiming what and where his other horcruxes are. I think, visually and cinematically, that this approach to the plot is much better, even if it is a little dissapointing. Hey, it’s better than the will, right? I’m sure there are many other ways that the producers could flatten their little plot-bump, (which I still find rediculous seeing as they knew how important it would be), but I can’t recall of any more ideas at the moment…

Anyways, this is not to detract from my excitement of this movie. I am, and will be for a while, unbelievably stoked to finally see this epic tale brought to cinema. I just thought I’d share with you all a little something that I question while these films are made, possibly to just to hype us all up even more. :) Cheers!

Is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Expanding?

Saturday, October 16th, 2010 | Author: Sarah

For those of you that haven’t heard, there are little murmurs of the possible expansion of the Wizarding World. Those murmurs turned into very important questions such as “How soon?” and “Where at?”. So far, the only question I know the answer to is “Who”. It has been confirmed that the “who’s-who” staffers of Universal Studios did, in fact, conduct a survey asking visitors their opinions on the expansion.

My opinions is the more, the merrier! But I am also not in a huge rush and I will tell you why. Firstly, I am still enjoying what we have been given (which is a whole lot of great stuff considering the amount of space they had to work with). Secondly, there are still many more fans that are still waiting for their chance to see the park. And last, but definitely not least, I still see stuff I didn’t see the last time I was there. Just as I am sure there a many of you that feel the same.

Last time I visited I did see a tiny bit of construction but I could find no one that could tell me what was being constructed, so that is one of my new goals. I will find out…for our sanity!

As much as I hate to admit it, I think Islands of Adventure would profit much more for a longer period of time by holding out until the newness of the park simmers a bit.

So, now I ask: What do you think of a possible expansion? If you haven’t already visited, would it matter at this point if there was an expansion? And if you have been to the WWoHP, would an expansion really influence your park frequency yet?

Say Hello to Future Harry Potter Books?

Saturday, October 02nd, 2010 | Author: Adam

A few minutes ago, I finished watching the new Oprah interview with JK Rowling. Within the first 10 minutes, Jo clearly states “I could write an eight, ninth, tenth (novel). I could easily…I’m not going to say I won’t. I don’t think I will. I loved writing those books…I feel that I am done, but you never know.”  Of course, Potter hopefuls are probably jumping with excitement right about now, but I feel much differently.

Many people may, and will, disagree with me, but I feel that the infamous Harry Potter series should be over. I feel as if Jo discovered the perfect time to finish it and she did. I think that Harry’s story has been told. Hasn’t Jo said these words? I may be fogetting. Every story must come to an end and I think that this series that we love so greatly has found its perfect ending.

If Jo were to write any more books surrounding the world of Harry potter, I’d really hope that they begin with their own plot and timeline, and that they do not correspond with the original and epic Harry Potter series.
